  3. Judy's TenKey makes your calculations easier and more reliable.  If you use 
  4. the default Windows calculator, you'll find that Judy's TenKey gives you 
  5. many advantages (see below).  If you're still using an old-fashioned desktop 
  6. calculator, you'll love the integration Judy's TenKey gives you with your other 
  7. Windows applications.

  9. This document provides a brief description of program capabilities, 
  10. installation instructions, author contact information, and version history.
  11. This document is also distributed in Windows Write format (describe.wri); you
  12. may find it easier on the eyes.

  15. <<PROGRAM CAPABILITIES>>

  17. HISTORY TAPE:  Records your calculations in a scrolling list which you 
  18. can save, print, and resize (a real help in keeping track of your calculations).  
  19. You can also reuse tape entries, saving typing and reducing errors.

  21. SELECTABLE SYNTAX:  Judy's TenKey can process numbers like a 
  22. scientific calculator (RPN), an adding machine, or a normal calculator.  If 
  23. you are familiar with one and not another, you know how difficult and 
  24. frustrating it can be to try to switch.  Perfect for accountants, engineers, and 
  25. you.

  27. CUSTOMIZABLE DISPLAY:  You can decide how you want your TenKey 
  28. to look (selecting from tape, memory, statistics, functions, trigonometry, 
  29. finance, and number pad options), enabling you to optimize screen usage.  
  30. Any TenKey function can always be activated via the keyboard regardless of 
  31. the current display configuration.

  33. FINANCIAL CALCULATIONS:  Judy's TenKey calculates monthly 
  34. payments for most loans (e.g., cars, houses, etc.), expected investment 
  35. growth, necessary retirement savings, inflation adjustment, and more.

  37. STATISTICS:  Judy's TenKey calculates standard statistics for highlighted 
  38. tape entries, including average value, sum, and standard deviation.

  40. KEEP ON TOP:  You can set Judy's TenKey to stay on top of all other 
  41. windows, so you quickly calculate something even when editing a document 
  42. full-screen.

  44. DECIMAL SETTING:  You can set Judy's TenKey to display the number of 
  45. decimal positions you prefer, ranging from 0 to "as needed".  If you 
  46. frequently deal with money, you might want to set the decimals to 2 (for 
  47. cents) or 0 (for dollars).  Judy's TenKey also supports automatic
  48. decimal insertion.

  50. INTELLIGENT COPY & PASTE:  You can copy tape entries to other 
  51. applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Notepad.  You can also 
  52. paste input from these applications.  If extraneous text and special formatting 
  53. are mixed in with your numbers, Judy's TenKey uses heuristic reasoning to 
  54. extract and interpret appropriate information.

  56. EXTRA TOUCHES:  Judy's TenKey remembers your favorite screen 
  57. position and displays itself there every time.  It also uses thousands 
  58. separators (e.g., "1,000,000" versus "1000000"), displays negative numbers in 
  59. red, and allows you to use the backspace key to edit results for further 
  60. calculation.  When in scientific mode, it provides an unlimited stack.

  62. BETTER PERFORMANCE:  Judy's TenKey enables you to work faster and 
  63. more reliably.  Once you can see (and reuse!) the numbers in your 
  64. calculations, you will never return to the default Windows calculator.

  66. (try subtracting "750.35 - 750.30" using the Microsoft calculator: it

  74. REQUIREMENTS:  Version 2.1 of Judy's TenKey runs under both Windows 
  75. 3.0 and 3.1. Including the tutorial demonstration, it uses 260K of disk 
  76. space.

  78. INSTRUCTIONS:  To install Judy's TenKey, simply run its installation 
  79. program (install.exe) from the Windows File Manager.  This installation
  80. program prompts you for additional information, allows you to cancel the 
  81. installation, demonstrates its main features, and even offers to uninstall 
  82. the program if you decide not to keep it.

  84. REGISTRATION:  Judy's TenKey is provided as copyrighted software; the 
  85. registration fee is a modest $14.75.  Registered user receive the latest 
  86. version of the program, as well as a free copy of Judy's CountDown (TM), a
